Desine fata deum3/15/2023 If you want to transmit the feeling of discord, chaos, discomfort, or whatever Eris stands for, I think there's a lot better ways than beats slavishly locked in tempo, looping melodies and occasional. My mental structures, for example, won't categorize almost anything in radio as "music" but almost jizz themselves to the symphony of bus engine roaring while the wheels are scraping the pavement and the body rhytmically complaining about suspension being shit.Īll sound transmit feeling, music is just the most studied aspect of that phenomenon, aside from speech of course. Those are useful way of conseptualizing when performing or composing, but in the end it's just vibrations in the air hitting some poor fuckers ears and their brain going "oh yeah, this is music", or "wtf is that please turn it off, my ears are bleeding" depending on personal taste, cultural backround, and history with drugs and mental illnesses. Thing even musicians, or rather especially musicians don't seem to get about music is that it isn't notes, rhythms, chords, beats, harmonies, samples, loops or any of that shit. Hopefully they stay.y'know, working and usable for the foreseeable future. Here are some links to her work, interviews, etc. She takes a more witchy approach to things than most of us might be used to, but when you're able to make bird noises sound like part of a sick beat, I think trying to "heal people with the musical energy of the Motherbeat" can be forgiven. Not only did she take on the name of Goddess when she came out, she lets chaos drive her style her mixes don't always flow neatly, she turns feedback noise into a beat, and uses whatever record happens to get pulled from her collection in the moment. She started with dingy, sketchy, drug-fueled raves, and has gone on to perform at.larger, more organized drug-fueled raves. Welp, my first post, let's see how badly I can mess this up.Įris Drew is a DJ from Chicago who's been gaining some popularity in recent years.
